About the event
The Highlands County Democratic Women's Club will meet this Saturday April 25.
At 10:30 am, we will introduce our featured speaker, Jean Federico, President of Highlands County Education Association (HCEA).
HCEA is an organization of teachers who work together to improve local public education. Members work to strengthen the voice of teachers in making decisions about education by educating teachers and the public about ongoing issues.
Jean will be speaking about the impact of the voucher system on the ability of the local school board to fund public education.
Jean Federico taught for 26 years at Avon Park Middle School as a special education teacher specializing in students with behavior disorders. Prior to teaching, she served 21 years in the US Air Force. Jean was an active member of HCEA while teaching and continues since retirement.
