About the event
The Democratic Women’s Club will meet this Saturday, May 23, at Democratic Headquarters, 4216 Sebring Parkway. Refreshments and fellowship begin at 9:30 a.m., with the program starting at 10:30 a.m.
This month’s featured speaker is Davette Thompson, a member of the NAACP and the Democratic Party of Highlands County. Davette will share a brief history of the National NAACP as well as the Highlands County Branch.
Born and raised in Chicago, Davette moved to Sebring in 2000 after retiring from a 28-year career in the telecommunications industry. After relocating, she pursued her lifelong passion for helping others by attending nursing school and becoming a registered nurse.
Davette has been an active member of the Highlands County NAACP since 2000 and has served in numerous leadership roles, including Past President, Political Action Chair, MLK Prayer Breakfast Chair, and Freedom Fund Gala Chair.
