Leah Grace Grecko of Sebring, Florida, beloved wife, mother, grand- mother, aunt, and friend, died at home June 17, 2024. Leah was born Jan. 1, 1934, to Evelyn Emerson in Cleve- land, Ohio, the eldest of eight siblings. In 1952, she married Joseph Grecko (deceased) as the girl who lived next door and together, they navigated 70 years and five children. Leah was a preschool teacher, a daycare administrator, and a catechism teacher. For many years, she worked as a water aerobics instructor at several places including Sun ‘N Lake, the Hotel Jacaranda and Kenilworth, South Florida State College, and the YMCA and Gold’s Gym.


Leah was tireless. Where she saw a need, she strived to fill it. In earlier years, she helped found a summer activity program for handicapped and otherwise challenged children. In later years, she began a bereavement program at her church. She was an active member of Our Lady of Grace in Avon Park as a choir member and a council member.


She was involved with the High- lands Lakeside Theater, performing in many plays and musicals. She was a member and past president of the Tanglewood Red Hat Society. Leah loved to play cards, everything from pinochle and bridge to Five Crowns. She was a self-taught pianist.

Leah is survived by her son, Robert (Angela) Grecko of Delmont, Pennsylvania; daughter-in-law, Patricia Grecko (wife of her late son, Timothy) of Monroeville, Pennsylvania; son, Christopher (Jennifer) Grecko of Clinton, Pennsylvania; daughter, Betsy (Jim) Peters of Locust Grove, Virginia; daughter, Sally (Darrell) Fink of Sebring, Florida; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and friends.


A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.
