Celebrating the Legacy of Women’s Suffrage

Emmanuel United Church of Christ recently welcomed 50 women for a special afternoon tea celebrating the courageous women who fought for the right to vote and the passage of the 19th Amendment. Guests enjoyed delicious tea, sandwiches, pastries, a fancy hat contest, and fellowship while many dressed in beautiful early-20th-century attire. Beyond the fun and fellowship, the gathering offered an opportunity to remember the struggles and sacrifices that made women’s voting rights possible—and to recognize that the work of justice and equality continues today. The spirit of advocacy was reflected through a generous donation to Butterfly Arising, an organization supporting survivors of human trafficking. It was a meaningful afternoon of friendship, remembrance, and a continued commitment to making a difference in our community.
